Earth Witness

This series is part of the exhibition “Și pământul e martor” (CIAC Baia Turcească, Iași, 2025), exploring an essential thematic trio: memory, human fragility, and the silence that follows suffering.

The project reveals the deep imprint of history on both the people and the places that sheltered them. It serves as a testimony to the struggle for freedom of those who resisted the communist regime for years by hiding.

The series transforms the earth itself into a silent witness of the anti-communist resistance: some of the colour pigments are sourced directly from the stones and soil of the mountains.

The fluidity of the technique evokes the evasive nature of the past, suggesting how history continuously melts and reconstructs itself through layers of memory.
